How do I fix a noise-making air conditioner?

Problematic noises in an air treatment device (or oven cabinet) are squeaking, squeaking and buzzing.

The squeaking or squeaking sound of an alternating current air treatment device. Although most air treatment devices are equipped with direct-drive motors, some older devices may be driven by a belt. The squeaking sounds of a belt-driven air treatment device usually occur when the belt that connects the engine to the blower slides. In most cases, the belt is misaligned or worn and needs to be replaced. Follow the above instructions under "Air-free air-free air conditioning" and refer to your user manual.

If a direct-drive blower squeaks or makes a squeaking sound, stop the device and, unless you're an accomplished handyman - call a CVC professional - the engine bearings are likely damaged. If you are able to do this kind of work, you can order and replace the engine.

The buzzing of the AC air treatment device. Do you hear a buzz when you turn on the thermostat? The only things that light up in the house when you turn on the thermostat are the fan relay and the fan of the air treatment device or boiler. Try putting the THERMOSTAT HEAT/COOL switch on OFF. Then switch the switch from auto fan to ON. The fan (only) should turn on. If the air treatment device is buzzing, it is probably that the fan relay or, more likely, the blowing fan is defective.

If your air conditioner is turned on and set properly, but still doesn't cool your home to your standards, you may have a device that is not sized properly for your home.

Remember that your system needs to be sized to keep your home cool on the average summer day. The average system must be able to maintain a temperature difference of 20 to 25 degrees between the outside and the indoor temperature. In other words, your air conditioner is not designed to keep your home at 68 degrees while it's 95 degrees outside.
